Court slaps fine in Thankot road case
Kathmandu, Apr. 3 The Special Court issued a verdict recently stating that funds to the tune of Rs. 1.3 million was embezzled in Thankot Chitlang Road Project.
The court has ordered to recover and impose a fine of the equal amount misappropriated by the project manager, staffs and contractor who were found involved in the embezzlement.The Commission for the Investigation of the Abuse of Authority (CIAA) had filed a case last year alleging that there was misappropriation of funds in the project.
According to the court, those persons involved in misappropriation were project managers Indra Bahadur Shah, overseer Bhanda Mandal, accountant Ramjee Bhandary, another project manager Mohammed Nurul Hoda, and assistant accountant Prakash Kumar Karki.
Similarly, the contractors involved in the scam were Surya Bahadur Karki, Rajendra Lama, and Hom Prasad Sharma Neupane.
